The deep blue eyes that never lie, was full of hopes that never die.
As the new year came around the corner, with hopes and prayers for a brand new life,
Was it apprehension or was it hope that lingered on those bright blue eyes.
For what was till then a soulful gaze, got transformed into a neutral grin.
The world was full of trauma and dread, to take you out of your restful mood
The war and the terror that brandishes the world bring nothing more than a hateful vengeance.
The scams and the scandals that line up the road, in what is called a democratic world
Threatens to frighten the souls off men, and make them tangled in the vagaries of life.
The routes to the age-old non-violence and ahimsa would seem a sweet reminiscence of the past.
Checking corruption and the corrupt, and to locate the sources of the Swiss bank accounts
Is sure to take up more time than you anticipateAnd a peaceful protest to pep-up the anger would do more good than a violent revolution.
With flocks of people to support the notion, that anti-corruption is not just a day-dream
The Euro crisis and the recession too, add a pinch of salt to the dangerous aftermath.
The upheavals and the revolutions in the Arab world, and the freedom struggles in the air,
The bullets, the gore and the sexual assaults, on anyone who makes up their minds,
To fight for the good and the innocent cause, turns the deep blue eyes paler than ever.
Is this the end of road for mankind, as we sail closer to the day,When the Mayans and the umpteen others have put forth for the doom?
As the shadow of darkness and doom lurks deep in every nook and corner,
With an all pervading hunger to encompass the world.
It’s true that the human hunger and greed leave no space for the nature’s work to flourish
Making way for another catastrophe seems like the easiest thing to do in this modern world.
As the new yeas comes around the corner, the danger of the unknowns looms in the dark,
Turning the water and the air turbid, and darkening the skies far above.
To sit back and enjoy this sight in the world would need more courage than man could muster
While the world clock ticks closer to the end, to look away is not indeed an option
But to do nothing would mean to embrace the future, as with mouth agape in shock and tremor.
The deep blue eyes still pale and floundering, searching hard for a ray of hope.
On New year's eve
